NorthWord Leadership

NorthWord Church’s “POEs”

What on earth is a POE?
Our congregation sometimes affectionately refers to our church leaders as “POEs.”

That acronym is short for Pastors, Overseers and Elders.

Click the tabs to learn a bit about each of them.

Theodore Cox
Ted Cox, Elder, and his wife Peggy have been attending NorthWord Church since its inception.

They have two grown children and have lived in Colorado Springs for the last 23 years. Ted is a retired home builder.

Ivan Anthony
Ivan Anthony, Elder, married his wife Pam 44 years ago. They have two children, Davin and Keeli, both married, and four grandchildren. Ivan and Pam have been attending NorthWord Church since its inception. Ivan is self-employed as a heavy equipment mechanic and synthetic lubricants distributor.

Lee Colburn
Lee Colburn, Elder, and his wife Jackie have lived in Monument since 2004. They have attended NorthWord Church since 2007. All children from their blended marriage grew up in the Pikes Peak area and now reside in other locations.

Lee hails from Texas, graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy, and served our nation for 21 years. Following retirement, he returned to Colorado Springs and worked in the telecom industry. Later, he served as a critical political staff member of a U.S. congressman.

Lee and Jackie enjoy their family (especially the grandchildren), playing music, online education, traveling, and serving at NorthWord.

Clayton Grissinger
Clayton Grissinger, Teaching Pastor,  first felt the desire to pursue ministry while studying at Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. After graduating, he went to Denver Seminary to earn a degree in theology. During his time there, he met the people of NorthWord Church and in his final year became their pastoral intern. Clayton taught at a Christian elementary school in Denver for two years after graduating from Denver Seminary.

With much prayer, he and his wife Bethanie decided to pursue pastoral ministry. Once again, NorthWord Church came into their lives, when church leadership approached and retained him as Associate Pastor. The emphasis on verse-by-verse teaching through the Bible along with doing life together are what matter most to Clayton and make NorthWord Church a place that he and his family love.

His hobbies include reading, being outside, and spending good, fun time with his wife and their young daughter.
