Doctrinal Statement

NorthWord Church

The Bible.
All Scripture is inspired and inerrant as originally given – both the Old and New testaments. They are God’s final authority for faith and life. (2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Pet 1:20-21)
God.
There is but One true God, eternally existing in three persons (a Tri-unity) – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deut 6:4; Matt 28:19; 2 Cor 13:14)
Jesus Christ.
He is deity (the Son) in human flesh. We affirm His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious and atoning death on the cross, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, and personal, imminent return in power and glory to judge and rule the world. (Mark 10:45; Luke 1:31-33; John 1:1, 14, 29, 3:16; Acts 1:11, 2:22-24; Rom 8:34 Phil 2:5-8, 3:20-21; Col 1:15-20; 1 Thess 4:13-18; Heb 1:3, 9:28, 10:5-14; 1 Pet 2:24, 3:18; 1 John 2:1; Rev 19:11-21, 21:22)
Humanity and Sin.
Human beings are completely in sin (total depravity) and have no capacity to be freed from its power. They were corrupted from their original purpose as image bearers and now require God’s spiritual re-birth (regeneration). (Gen 1:26, 3:17-24; Isa 59:2; Luke 18:26-27, Rom 3:9-19, 23; Eph 2:1-3)
Salvation.
The forgiveness and cleansing of sins is a free gift of God, entirely apart from human effort or deeds. All who have genuinely trusted (biblical faith, commitment) the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior no longer live under divine condemnation for sin (justified). (John 1:12-13, 3:14-16, 10:27-29, 14:6; Rom 8:1, 31-39, 10:9-10; 2 Cor 5:17; Eph 1:7, 2:8-10; 1 Pet 1:3-5)
The Holy Spirit.
He indwells and regenerates people at the moment they genuinely believe, enabling them to live godly lives, serve others, and overcome the evil one, Satan. (Matt 5:16; John 16:7-14; 1 Cor 6:19, 12:13; Gal 5:22-23; Eph 1:13-14, 4:30; 1 Pet 4:10-11)
Final Judgment.
All are resurrected physically from the dead, those who have trusted Christ (the justified) to everlasting blessedness, those who have rejected Christ (the lost) to everlasting punishment. (Matt 25:31-46; Rev 20:11-15)
The Church.
All believers are universally linked in the mystical Body of Christ, whose purpose is to display the character of God and bring Him honor. Nevertheless, the visible church is locally expressed and governed, regularly celebrating baptism and communion. (Matt 28:18-20; John 17; Acts 1:8, 2:42-47; Eph 3:8-11, 4:1-6, 11-16)

The elders of NorthWord Church believe doctrinal elements beyond the essentials noted above are to be treated with grace, as preferences, and should not be a cause for judgment or division within the community.

We invite you and your family to participate with the NorthWord community in honoring, praising, and worshiping Jesus. Worship with us on Sundays, 10:00 a.m. at Lewis-Palmer HS, Monument, CO.
